If you have
been following the ambitious ‘One and Other’
4th Plinth project in Trafalgar Square organised by sculptor
Antony Gormley, you might have caught the live video stream
of local man Karl Jones on the afternoon of August 28th.
Over the course
of 100 days, 2400 participants spent an hour each on the
plinth with the freedom to do anything at all! Needless
to say, a few eyebrows were raised... Precariously juggling
a mobile phone and paintbrushes whilst chatting to local
radio station The Bridge, Karl used his hour on the Plinth
to raise money for Acorn Children’s charity by collecting
sponsorship to paint “what I can see” from
his perch.
“The
Plinth was an amazing experience” says Karl, whose
finished masterpiece (“Angle of the Square”)
is being raffled through aa-rt the gallery in Stourbridge
Town Centre to raise more funds for Acorn.
